About Us

Patterson Heating and Cooling was founded in 1970 by Mack Patterson (a former Dubuque teacher).  The business he began has expanded in both services and facilities ever since. Today, Patterson Heating and Cooling, the Fireplace Gallery, and Advanced Radon Mitigators are housed in a 15,000 square foot shop and showroom building located at 1060 Cedar Cross Rd. Mack’s son, Bret Patterson, who grew up with the heating and cooling business is the current President.

In the mid-1990s Patterson added fireplaces to our product-line and to our company name. We now have a complete fireplace showroom, the Fireplace Gallery, with over 45 units on display. Recently, Bret launched a new business called Advanced Radon Mitigators, a company devoted to the elimination of radon in Tri-State homes.

One thing that has stayed the same in this family-owned and operated business is our commitment to providing professional, courteous, and prompt customer service. Mack felt so strongly about taking care of his customers, that he developed the “Ask Your Neighbors” motto.  Anyone should be able to ask a Patterson customer about the company and receive a good recommendation.  Offering free, no obligation, in-home estimates on replacement equipment and free consultation for new homes is one way Patterson takes care of our clients. Our Hours

Patterson’s is open Monday through Friday year round and Saturdays during the fall and winter months. 

24-Hour Service

Our Service Technicians are “on call” 24 hrs a day 365 days a year to handle heating and cooling emergencies. They sell and offer professional installation of; furnaces, central air conditioners, geothermal heating & cooling systems, gas, electric, and wood burning fireplaces, wood stoves, water heaters, boilers, zoned heating and cooling, and in-floor radiant heating. Patterson’s offers complete comfort system installations for both residential and commercial new construction as well as replacement of existing systems.
